You may recognise Ben Siddall from his time spent writing songs under the much acclaimed moniker The Lodger or as one of This Many Boyfriends' guitarists, and you might also recognise Sarah Williams from drumming and vocal duties in Wakefield trio The Research. In 2012 the pair decided to navigate the difficulties of being based in both Leeds and London, and via the M1 they began work on a new project together; one which would allow them to journey in new musical directions, and thus The Birthday Kiss were formed.
Death Party Records will be releasing their debut double-A single this April, so the band will be bringing out their charming synth-pop in celebration as headliners at Wharf Chambers, Leeds on Friday 5th April. Listen to the single below and pre-order it here: http://thebirthdaykiss.bandcamp.com/
Support comes from...
Unmade Bed 'featuring Dorian Cox (last heard of as guitarist from The Long Blondes), Robert E Lee (last heard of commanding the Confederate army in the American Civil War) and vocalist Hannah (whose slightly Marmite vocals are what give Unmade Bed their bike), we're told that their dirty ditties are written in a Sheffield flat behind a sex shop' - The Quietus
Plus Leeds-based Scandinavia and indie-pop obsessives Finnmark! making their first ever live appearance.
Also spinning some tracks through the evening will be This Many Boyfriends.
